About
One self-taught builder, one farm shop, one rule: say only what is true.
I'm Andrew. I help run a small family farm in southern Oregon, and in the gaps I build things in the shop. I'm not an audio engineer. I'm a self-taught tinkerer who reads the datasheets and would rather understand why something sounds better than be told it does.
Dapaba is where the audio side of that goes: the gear in our house, the things I build for it, and the explanations I wish I'd had. I also run HovelHack, which does the same for smart-home gear.
How I test
Everything reviewed here lives in the house and gets used day to day before it gets a verdict. Until then its page says "in testing" and shows only what is known. Numbers come from datasheets, parts orders and logs, never from guesses. When I build something, the log shows the parts, the reasons and the problems, including the ones not solved yet.
Nobody pays for coverage here. If a company ever sends gear, the review will say so at the top.
